Festival Assistant

A Festival Assistant is responsible for administration and production duties to contribute to the overall running of the festival. As such they must have exceptional computer and customer service skills, and a team player. This is a great opportunity for a person looking for experience in event management. Ideally a volunteer will commit to work regularly leading up to and after the festival (average 2 - 3 afternoons a week)

Duties may include:

creating and updating festival documents (Microsoft Word, Excel)

directing volunteers

Setting up, assisting in, and closing of festival events including box office

answering audience inquiries

Other duties as required

 

Box Office

Box Office volunteers are responsible for the running the Box Office. They must be comfortable in dealing with the public and cash and credit card transactions.

Duties may include:

Setting up box office

Taking cash and credit card sales

Answering inquiries

Doing will call (tickets on hold)

Keeps watchful eye on donation box.

Selling merchandise at some venues (eg. performer's CD's)

Folding and inserting programs

Other duties as required

 

Greeter

Greeters are the first contact with patrons; as such they must be friendly and outgoing and comfortable in dealing with the public. Greeters must familiarize themselves with the event and the venue.

Duties may include:

Welcoming patrons to events

Answering questions and directing patrons

Responsible for conducting surveys and collecting donations

May be required to help set-up a venue.

Other duties as required

 

Hospitality

Hospitality volunteers work backstage during technical run-throughs and performances.

Duties may include:

Greeting performers as they arrive

Helping to supervise backstage activity - relaying cues and information to performers

Maintaining backstage area in a clean and orderly condition

Ensuring there are refreshments set out for performers

Other duties as required

 

Concession/Merchandise

Concession/Merchandise volunteers serve food and non-alcoholic beverages and sell festival and artist's merchandise before and after the show and during the intermission. They must be comfortable handling cash.

Duties may include:

Setting up concession/merchandise area

Serving patrons

Cleaning up and cashing out at the end of the shift

Other duties as required

 

Event Volunteers

Are responsible for the setting up, serving and cleaning up of food at the Gala reception and Celebration Banquet.

Duties may include:

Setting up and removing tables and chairs and light cleaning.

Some lifting

Setting out the food

Replenishing food

Serving food in the buffet lines

Serving beverages

Keeping food area neat and clean

Tidying up all food areas at the end of the event.

Other duties as required

 

Venue Manager

The Venue Manager is responsible for the overall running of the front of house area as such they must have exceptional customer service skills. This is a great opportunity for a person looking for experience in management. Volunteer must commit to one venue for the run of the festival (2 - 3 nights)

Duties may include:

Setting up, assisting in, and closing the box office

Liaising with all front of house volunteers

Assisting with latecomers and donations collection

Answering patron concerns

Other duties as required
