Patti Shaughnessy

Patti Shaughnessy is an actor, director, producer who has worked on several theatre and multi-arts projects, most notable being the Ode’min Giizis Festival (2008-2012); a multi-disciplinary festival of arts featuring local, national and international Indigenous artists in Peterborough, ON. Patti is co-founder of Peterborough based arts collective, O’Kaadenigan Wiingashk, whose vision is to develop, nurture and create a platform for Indigenous arts practices.
Patti studied at Trent University and following her academic studies she trained at the Centre for Indigenous Theatre in Toronto. Selected acting credits include touring Canada and Mexico in Drew Hayden Taylor’s, Raven Stole the Sun (Red Sky Performance), three Canadian productions of Tomson Highway’s The Rez Sisters(Magnus Theatre, Theatre Northwest and Public Energy/OKW), Drew Hayden Taylor’s, Berlin Blues (4th Line Theatre), Tara Beagan’s, Ministry of Grace (Article 11) and Tara Beagan’s Beside Herself, (Mysterious Entity Theatre). Film Credits include: The Gift, written and directed by Wanda Nanabush, The Talking Head, written and directed by Shelley Niro, Apikiwiyak, written by Maria Campbell, directed by Shane Belcourt. Directing credits include for the National Theatre of Greenland: Ananna A/S (Casa Matriz), Rosa Marie-p tiquartikkaluarnera (The Occupation of Heather Rose) and Arnatsialaat, (The Rez Sisters).
Patti is honoured to be invited to take part in the Kw’eykw`áystway Industry Series as part of the 2017 Talking Stick Festival.
