Full Circle: First Nations Performance is accepting applications for the position of PROGRAM MANAGER. We are seeking an energetic and resourceful individual with an awareness of and commitment to Indigenous-centred performance practices. The Program Manager has demonstrated initiative, curiosity and ingenuity when empowering Indigenous artists and interdisciplinary artistic communities. The successful applicant is an inspirational community leader, possessing exceptional administrative skills, and an enthusiasm for collaboration and creative thinking.

Founded in 1992 by Margo Kane (C.M.) and based in Vancouver, Full Circle: First Nations Performance is the leading non-profit performing arts organization in British Columbia devoted solely to pioneering, amplifying, and celebrating opportunities for Indigenous artists, writers and performers. Our dynamic programming activities take place on the unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

This work includes production of The Talking Stick Festival, the only annual Indigenous multi-disciplinary festival on Turtle Island featuring  a roster of invited artists that reflect the local, regional, national and international communities; the annual Industry Series; Muyuntsut ta Slulum music programming ; the creation of original performance works and workshops for both local presentation and touring; professional development activities for artists in the FC Ensemble; and other year-round programming that includes Indian Acts,  our traveling community engagement series Moccasin Trek: Arts on the Move, a comprehensive Mentorship Program for Indigenous arts professionals  along with other Creative projects & productions. 

Primary Accountabilities of the Program Manager

  1. Artistic Planning:  Serve as an indispensable resource to the Artistic Managing Director in artistic visioning, research and meeting with artists and oversight of society curators; responsible for planning and execution of all educational and outreach programming.
  2. Communications:  Oversees the Communications Manager and execution of a marketing and communications plan to include managing deliverables of the social media, marketing and publicity contractors.
  3. Grant-writing:  Research of diverse funding sources for new program development; provide documentation; provide compelling, engaging writing and incisive final report support for select project and operating grants.
  4. HR management: Take the lead on hiring of production personnel for all artistic programming in collaboration with the Artistic Managing Director; devise and oversee work plans of marketing, social media and publicity contractors, all society curators, and artistic interns. Oversee succession plans to ensure smooth transition and continuity for staff including, onboard and exit interviews and updating job descriptions. .
  5. Office Management:  Statistic creation and reporting to ensure effective, conscientious, respectful operation and administrative excellence; consistently integrate systems and best practices policies built from both Indigenous protocols and innovative settler management models.
  6. Financial management:  Budget preparation and ongoing budget; facilitate robust budget development with the curatorial team.
  7. Protocol Development:  Assist the Artistic Managing Director in guiding the society in its vision to honour and align with Indigenous-led protocols in the creation and implementation of new, radical, and de-colonial artistic protocols; humbly and respectfully deepen meaningful connections with society Elders and Cultural Advisors as well as IBPOC Community Leaders.
  8. Development Direction:  Develop and give inspirational presentations as needed to stakeholders and community partners; ability to adjust tone and style of any presentation to meet the unique perspectives of diverse Indigenous and settler community engagers; support, develop, and implement education, outreach and community programs.
  9. Production Management:  Assist in hiring and supervision of all production personnel associated with Full Circle, the Talking Stick Festival and all artistic programming.
  10. Cultural Ambassador:  The Program Manager is an integral team member, playing a critical administrative role in supporting Full Circle’s contributions as a leader and key player in the Indigenous artistic movements across Turtle Island and the International Indigenous performance and artistic community; respectful in-person participation in meetings with partners and sponsors; possess a passion for inclusion, fairness, and equity.
  11. Education and Training:  Coordination of Repertoire and Ensemble Training; mentorship and guidance to emerging Indigenous arts professionals; work with internal and external stakeholders to establish new initiatives.
  12. Leadership:  Establish, motivate, and maintain positive working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, artists, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the Society; consistently practices rigour, integrity, humility, kindness, and excellent humour as a member of the senior leadership team for the Society; receptive to developing and improving professional skills; experience with and/or exhibit a willingness to fuse Indigenous ways of knowing and being with artistic competencies of leadership which will contribute to a lasting, interdisciplinary artistic presence for the Society.
  13. Planning:  Identify, assess and communicate internal and external issues that affect the Society and participate in long-term planning; develop an annual operational plan that animates the strategic direction of the organization.



  • Three to five years senior non-profit management experience (or equivalent).
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, human resource management, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Proven leadership with demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Exemplary relationship-building and team-building skills.
  • Ability to interface with and engage diverse artist, volunteer, and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours.
  • Experience in non-profit organizations, theatre production, marketing, sponsorship, fundraising, event planning, box office systems, and equity, diversity, and inclusion are all highly desirable.
  • Degree in theatre or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a festival environment is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge working within Indigenous artistic communities is preferred

REMUNERATION:   $50,000 TO $60,000 (commensurate with experience).
