Reconciling Creativity Play Reading Series

This coming season Full Circle has an exciting new series of events.

The overarching theme of these events will discuss, investigate or develop ideas and works within the framework of the written word and oral culture practices of Indigenous people.

Traditionally, in the Indigenous world, art is not separated from the community. It is integral to a happy and healthy way of life. Full Circle believes in rooting art back into the community, where it was traditionally and where it is intended to be. Through creating opportunities for Indigenous artists to express their life experiences and engage with audiences of all ages and backgrounds, we share these values with as wide scope as possible so that people of all races and ages have a better understanding of First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture. Art is a bridge to relationship and relationship builds reconciliation.

Past Events:

Public Reading of CITY NDN LUV
Written by Kelsey Kanatan Wavey @wavey_bb
Directed by Audrey Dwyer

“It’s 2013, and 4 urban Indigenous young adults are restlessly searching for community, freedom, and control inside a windowless basement in the West End of Winnipeg. One of these young adults is Keni, an art school dropout, who is unsettled by a fish spirit who seems to be slowly suffering in the polluted lake of Keni’s family’s reserve. Keni, pulled in all directions, must find a way to heal this spirit and herself.”

CITY NDN LUV play reading was produced by Savage Society and presented by Full Circle as part of the “Read Red Play Reading Series”.
